Now that the dust has settled on UKSG 2025, we’ve come together to reflect on what might possibly be our last UKSG for a while as the Open Book Futures project funding from the Research England Development Fund and Arcadia ends in April 2026.

Joanne Fitzpatrick of the Accessibility work package provides an examination of legislative requirements and standards across multiple countries, and reflects on how publishers can measure compliance with them and use them as motivation to achieve accessible outputs.

For Work Package 5 Accessibility, Joanne Fitzpatrick examines where the work of academic librarians intersects with providing accessible content, with a view to informing small publishers of what they can do to maximise their appeal to libraries.

A range of accessibility auditing tools, models, guidelines and resources suitable for supporting accessible outputs from diamond open access publishers are described by Joanne Fitzpatrick of Work Package 5 Accessibility.
