Opening the Future is a new funding model for Open Access books, currently adopted by two University Presses, with more presses to come.
The programme funds BPC-free open access book publishing while also broadening library collections through an affordable subscription to closed content. At Work Package 3 we're reshaping how knowledge dissemination is funded and accessed, by leveraging the collective contributions of academic libraries worldwide. Libraries that subscribe as members to a press' Opening the Future programme fund those presses to publish new OA monographs, while the library simultaneously benefits from access to closed content, and no single institution bears a disproportionate burden.
